START ENGINEERING JSCo

Your partner - yesterday, today and tomorrow!

On 19 July 2018, Start Engineering JSC, thanks to the successful installation of seismic monitoring systems at Tsankov Kamak and Plovdivts dams and the ongoing commissioning of such a system at Studena dam, became the official representative of the Swiss company Syscom Instruments SA, member of the Bartec Group (one of world leaders in equipment production in this specific sector) for Bulgaria, Albania, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro. The scope of our business includes supplying, installing, tuning, commissioning and servicing of any type of equipment in subject areas in extreme conditions and for monitoring critical data.

Brief description of the seismic monitoring systems installed by Start Engineering

  1. Tsankov Kamak dam - put into operation in January 2011

Seismic observation system produced by SYSCOM Switzerland.

The built-in seismic system consists of three accelerometers (a set of individual sensors - MS2005 + Triaxial MEMS, Recorder - MR2002-SM24 Three-Channel Motion Recorder, Meteolabor over voltage power line protection and fiber optic connection) in Network, NCC in a Box Communication Center and one GPS antenna:

  1. Accelerometer E1 is installed on the wall in block M43 (the bottom of the dam) on a water side panel.
  2. Accelerometer E2 is installed on the wall under the crown of the dam wall in the L4 measuring profile on the air side.
  3. Accelerometer E3 is installed in an outbuilding about 700m from an administrative building on a special concrete foundation.
  4. NCC box communication center and GPS antenna are installed in the administrative building
  5. WINCOM and VIEW 2002 recording and analysis software

  1. Plovdivtsi dam - put into operation in October 2017

Seismic observation system produced by SYSCOM Switzerland.

The built-in seismic system consists of three accelerometers with a conception in a common block type MR3000DMS (sensor + recorder + overvoltage protection + optical link) specializing in dams walls that are interconnected in a communication network and one GPS antenna for time synchronization:

  1. Accelerometer A1 is installed on the dam wall path in Profile 10 on a dashboard. A GARMIN GPS antenna is connected to it.
  2. Accelerometer A2 is installed on the right side of the heel of the dam on the air side.
  3. Accelerometer A3 is installed at the end of the right part of the elevation of the dam, up to the road from the air side.
  4. VIEW 2002 Recording and Analysis Software

The three accelerometers are mounted on special concrete foundations and are protected by stainless steel boxes and the required coating.

The information from the recorded events is displayed directly through the WEB-based visualization software VISTA DATA VISION on a monitor installed in the service building.

  1. Studena dam - current 2018 - 2019

Seismic observation system produced by SYSCOM Switzerland.

The seismic system will consist of three accelerometers with a concept in a single block MR3000DMS (sensor + recorder + overvoltage protection + optical link) specializing in dams that are interconnected in a communications network and one GPS antenna for timing:

  1. Accelerometer A1 will be installed in the dock crown path, block 11 in a dashboard on the air side. A GARMIN GPS antenna is connected to it.
  2. Accelerometer A2 will be installed in the Injection Gallery of the Dam, block 11 from the air side.
  3. Accelerometer A3 will be installed outside the dam wall around 100m to the roadside air route.
  4. Waveform Analysis Recording and Analysis Software

The recorded event information is directly displayed through the WEB-based visualization software VISTA DATA VISION on a monitor installed in the serving building.

All systems are powered by an Online Double Conversion UPS.
